As well as being in the trenches of classroom and Online teaching, Garman has helped several institutions with their visual effects education.
Since 2010 Garman has been helping the Mars Era School (hsxd.com) in Beijing by training their teachers.

Garman has an extensive academic teaching background, having taught at the University of Texas at Dallas, The School of Software and Microelectronics, Peking University, Beijing China, The Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia.
At the Savannah College of Art and Design, Garman helped write the SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) course documentation and Dean's report for the new Visual Effects Program.
